BAZETTA TWP., Ohio - Employees at the Kmart Distribution Center in Bazetta Township will vote this week to decide if they want to give negotiators authorization to call a strike if necessary.
The 250 employees, who are members of UAW Local 1112, will cast their votes Thursday from 7 a.m. Until 7 p.m., at the UAW union hall in Lordstown.
UAW President Glenn Johnson tells 21 News that negotiations have failed to come up with a new contract to replace the pact that expires early Wednesday morning.
Johnson says workers will stay on the job, working under terms of the old contract on a day-to-day basis while negotiations continue.
The union would not discuss issues that remain on the bargaining table.
