A Youngstown man will serve six years in prison for sex crimes against three children but one victim said that they are the ones who will have to deal with what happened the rest of their lives.

Emotional testimony was given by two victims and a mother during Ronald Gibson's sentencing Thursday.

Judge Shirley Christian ordered 46-year-old Ronald Gibson to serve 6 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to felony charges of voyeurism, gross sexual imposition and sexual battery.

There were three victims ranging in age from eight to 16 years old.

"He took my privacy away from me," read the assistant prosecutor on behalf of one of the victim's who was in court.

She read the victim's statement that also said "He hid cameras in our bathroom and had videos, photos of me with no clothes on and because of this I am afraid of restrooms."

Gibson talked about the cameras in court. "It was not meant for any kind of gratification whatsoever. Like I said it was an idiot move," he stated.

One charge was for inappropriately touching an eight-year-old girl. Her mother said that the child had to go on medication and was treated for hurting herself and wanting to die.

"As a mother I never want any child to have to endure what these kids have gone through let alone any child or my own," described the mother in court.

Two of her children were victims, her other child had the photos taken of her, and she said that the maximum amount of time behind bars wasn't enough.

Judge Christian said "I'm certain that if I were a family member sitting in the back of this courtroom that I would want him to go away for as long as possible and I appreciate that" but she said that she is bound by the requirements of the law.

His sentence was one year short of the prosecution's recommendation of seven years in prison.

Gibson must also register as a sex offender for life.
