BOARDMAN, Ohio - After heavy rain around 6 p.m. Thursday evening, water began rushing through Red Grouse Ct. in Boardman Township.

Homeowners on this street told 21 News this happened just last month and many times before.

"That is a result of the creek off Tippecanoe," stated Ilario Pace who has lived in his home for 27 years. "That creek is so dilapidated, it needs to be cleaned out, so that way it can absorb more water than it is now because once that creek gets flooded, everything comes down over here."

He believes Boardman Township needs to put in drains and a catch, but he said that his requests have gone unanswered.

"I just hope somebody wakes up you know? As far as Boardman Township, whoever is in charge of this, they have got to do something about this because eventually, these homes are all going to get flooded over here."

All of the rain and flooding could be a costly fix for a resident who's pool is now turned into a mud bath.

"It was perfectly blue and ready to swim. We were having everyone over for the 4th of July and now we have a small mud bath back there that we have to completely drain and probably not reopen," said Joey Koulianos.

On Hopkins road, a tree was uprooted in front of a home.

Larger branches also came down along with some power lines.

Earlier in the day, Governor Mike DeWine announced that the state of Ohio requested that FEMA add Mahoning County to the 10-county Presidential Disaster Declaration.

That declaration was issued by President Trump last week after the recent severe weather the state has experienced.
