Cortland City Council appoints new member

During a Monday night meeting, the Cortland City Council appointed a new member.
Vice President of Council Jim Bradley was elected to be the city's new mayor on February 10, 2026. He will complete the mayoral term, ending on December 31, 2027.
Bradley was elected to serve as the new mayor after the city's former Mayor Deidre Petrosky was recalled during a special meeting on Tuesday, February 3.
Due to Bradley's appointment, a seat on the Cortland City Council was left vacant.
However, as of Monday, the council has chosen a new member.
Pictured above, Kris Vadas, the city's newest council member, hopes to use his new position to help the community grow.
"Our city has gone through a rough patch over the past several months. There was an open council seat, and, as a lifelong resident, I felt I could step in and right the ship and help the city grow," said Vadas.
Vadas said he is eager to get started, having received documents regarding projects throughout the community that he will begin sorting through.
He says that his primary focus will be on infrastructure, community morale and support.
