A seventeen-year-old died after slipping off the edge of a cliff at the Beaver Creek State Park in Calcutta Tuesday.

Dustin Huffman was on a break from a summer job trimming back tree branches from power lines at the park.

Police said it appears that Huffman slipped on wet ground and fell approximately 80 to 100 feet.

Huffman, who was a student at Salem High school, was a cross-country and track star who had recently won a state championship.

Huffman's friends said the news of his death came as a shock.

"We actually heard a few hours ago and I couldn't believe it. I didn't want to believe it," Ross Mondell, a friend of Huffman's, said.

Students are planning a walk in Huffman's memory Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at Reilly Stadium.
