Howland Specialty Care opened at 8740 East Market Street on October 27, providing seven different specialty services with a mission to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care close to home.

The center would be near the $800 million plant already under construction in Howland and offer another 65 jobs.

The ribbon cutting officially marks the opening of the interchange and took place on Friday, October 17, at 10 a.m.

More than 1,200 FirstEnergy customers are without power in the Howland area. The cause of the outage is currently unknown. 

A spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 4 tells 21 News the construction barriers came down and cars began passing through the diamond around 2:45 Friday afternoon.

Chesnic said the opening won't happen first thing in the morning, but it is expected to happen sometime on Friday. A formal announcement will be made whenever the diamond is officially opened.

Mines Road will be closed between State Route 46 (Niles-Cortland Road) and Johnny Cake Road from Monday, October 6 until Friday, November 14 for road improvements.

According to the patrol, Elonen entered the intersection and struck the right side of the car.
