A guard at the Trumbull county jail has been fired for suspicion of improper contact with a female prisoner.

George Palmer, 21, was dismissed Tuesday after security video shows that he spent approximately eight minutes in the cell of a female prisoner during checks, which are supposed to take around 30 seconds.

Palmer was still in the probationary period of his employment, having started on the job eight months ago.

The Ohio Bureau of Identification and Investigation has been called in to investigate.
