Youngstown, Ohio - 21 Sports has learned that Eric Wolford will be the next head football coach at Youngstown State University.  Sources tell us that YSU will name Wolford as Jon Heacock's successor some time next week, possibly as early as Tuesday.

He will be the sixth head football coach in YSU history.

Wolford is a Valley native and a graduate of Ursuline High School and went on to play football at Kansas State. He is the offensive line coach and running game coordinator at the University of South Carolina.

A spoke person from YSU could not be reached for comment.

Dick Angle, who coached Wolford in high school, said he is a dedicated, hard worker.

"The excitement he has about life, not just coaching. Taking care of his son and daughter, being able to come home, be around people. He loves life. He has that energy about him. If you're going to work for 18 hours, Eric's going to work 20 hours. He's going to find a way to get it done," Angle said.
