Woman found dead on roadside was ex-wife of convicted doctor
NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) _ A woman found dead along a rural western Pennsylvania road was the ex-wife of a doctor imprisoned for writing illegal painkiller prescriptions to his patients.
Lawrence County Coroner Russell Noga says autopsy results on 40-year-old Kristiana Wilkins were inconclusive, pending toxicology tests that will take weeks to complete.
State police say the woman's body was found 5 p.m. Wednesday along County Line Road in Shenango Township.
That's near New Castle, about 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
A township police officer discovered the body when he arrived at the scene to help a stranded motorist.
The woman's ex-husband, a chiropractor named Thomas Wilkins, was sentenced to seven to 15 years in prison in 2006 for writing unnecessary prescriptions and Medicaid fraud.
