SLIPPERY ROCK, Pennsylvania - Police are investigating an apparent double murder near Slippery Rock.

On Thursday, police found the charred remains of Kenneth and Celeste Abbott on their property in Brady township near Slippery Rock.

Soon after, 40-year-old Colin Abbot was arrested in New Jersey and charged with killing his father and step-mother.

Trooper Ronald Kesten of the Pennslvania State Police, Butler barracks, told 21 News that "based on information gathered through out the investigation, Colin Abbott of Randolph, New Jersey has been taken into custody."

Family friend, Nicke Hufnage, says "my dad would stop over there to say, hey where's Ken and Celeste?  He was living there and he said they'd passed away."

Colin had apparently told family members the couple died July 12th in a car crash in New Jersey.

Nervous family members contacted police in New Jersey but, they had no reports of an accident.

During a search of Colin Abbots New Jersey home police found his step-mother's wallet along with a gun case for a .38 caliber hand gun.
