ELLWOOD CITY, Pennsylvania - A group out of Wisconsin is calling for the removal of Ellwood City's nativity scene.

Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the wise men have graced the front lawn of the Ellwood City Municipal building for 50 years.

The Freedom from Religion Foundation has threatened legal action to prevent it from going up.

"Speaking with our solicitor, I believe we have the grounds to put our nativity scene up [and] go forward with this and see what the solicitor has to say down the road," said Ellwood City Mayor Anthony J. Court. "But as I stated, it's in our constitution [that] we are in favor of putting our religious beliefs out."

The mayor says he has received numerous phone calls of support encouraging the 50 year tradition to continue.

City employees are scheduled to place the manger scene on it's traditional location sometime on Tuesday.
