LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The man who led authorities on a four hour manhunt in Trumbull County on Monday is facing several charges.

Charles Hill is charged with two counts of felonious assault, and one count each of abduction, fleeing and eluding and receiving stolen property.

He is expected to be arraigned in Warren Municipal Court on Wednesday morning.

U.S. Marshalls say Hill tried to run two officers over as they tried to arrest him in the parking lot of the Giant Eagle in the Warren Plaza Monday morning. The incident spurred a four hour manhunt and eventual arrest.

More than one hundred law enforcement officers were on the hunt for a suspect after the U.S. Marshall's Task Force tracked 36-year-old Charles Hill to Bazetta Township.

Hill is wanted in West Virginia for allegedly stealing about 45-thousand dollars from an elderly couple.

U. S. Marshall Peter J. Elliott for the Northern District of Ohio says Hill spotted officers when he was in a vehicle and tried to run them over. Officers fired shots at him. Mr. Hill then exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods.

Authorities believe Hill hid in the woods for a few hours, and then entered the parking lot and woods behind the Bazetta Township WalMart.

With police believing Hill was armed and dangerous, the Bazetta store was placed on a lock down.

Trevor Trumbull says his friends told him to stay inside the store because there could be a shooter outside, and police did not know exactly where he was.

Deborah Navarra from Cortland says it was kind of scary. She says you see this kind of stuff on TV but it doesn't typically happen in your neighborhood.

After about two hours, WalMart customers were allowed to go, but Bazetta and Cortland officers checked cars to make sure customers were safe.

Dozens of sightings were checked out, and after a four hour manhunt police tracked Hill down.

Police checked Hill's cell phone use and tracked him to the Liberty Township area. They searched all the hotels and motels and found Hill at the Motel Six on Belmont Avenue.

U.S. Marshall Elliott says team work by local law enforcement, including Youngstown and Warren, along with all departments that provide officers for the task force, Mahoning and Trumbull Sheriff's Deputies, Ohio Highway Patrol, the FBI, BCI, U.S. Marshalls, and parole officers led to the safe and successful apprehension of Hill.

Elliott says police received information earlier that Hill was not going to go easy, and he could potentially take out law enforcement officers, take himself out, or have police take him out.

Hill is being held in jail for extradition to West Virginia, plus he faces additional charges.

The U.S. Marshalls believe others were involved in helping Hill get to the motel. This means charges could be filed against other individuals.

Hill is from Alliance, Ohio.
