STRUTHERS, Ohio - A Struthers police officer has been fired after his arrest earlier this month.

Struthers Mayor Terry Stocker says 34-year-old Dan Lamping, an 11-year veteran officer, was fired last Friday.

Lamping refused a breathalyzer test when he was stopped by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Boardman on July 16th.

Stocker says Lamping declined an opportunity to explain his conduct.

Because Lamping refused the breathalyzer test, his driver's license was suspended. The mayor says that means Lamping is no longer fit for duty, since he can't drive.
