Arab American Festival in downtown Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The first annual Arab-American Festival took place in downtown Youngstown this weekend.
The fest is a celebration of the vibrant heritage of the city's Arab-Americans.
There was a shopping bazaar with clothing and souvenirs from all over the Middle East, along with games for the kids.
Al Adi, who owns Downtown Circle and is President of the Arab American Festival, says visitors to the festival were able to try traditional Middle Eastern foods including gyros, falafels, hummus, lamb, and many others.
The party continued on Saturday night with Tony Eid an internationally acclaimed singer taking the stage to perform. There were also belly dancers and other artists.
A tent was set up with information about the 10 represented Arab nations. Three were monitors with You Tube videos and more as part of the presentation.
