POLAND, Ohio - Poland Township police are investigating whether a former student teacher at Poland High School violated a civil protection order barring her from contact with a 10th grade student.

The mother of the student asked for and was granted a protective order against 23-year-old Makala Gasparek in January.

The judge issued the order after a hearing.

She told the court that after the order was issued, Gasparek continued to contact her daughter by phone and meet her in her car. The mother also says Gasparek violated the protection order by sending her daughter letters and candy, and buying her a cell phone.

In February, the court ordered Gasparek to stay away from the 16-year-old until 2015, even if the girl gave her permission. In her request for the protective order, the mother claimed Gasparek was let go from the Youngstown State University teaching program for inappropriate contact with students.
