YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A Youngstown man is going to prison for killing his uncle.

A judge sentenced 25-year-old Emmett Perkins to a total of ten years behind bars on Wednesday.

Perkins was sentenced to a seven year term for his conviction on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, and an additional three years for using a gun in the shooting death of Frank Whitted at a West Princeton home in Youngstown back in February.

Perkins agreed to plead guilty to the reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter in exchange for the dismissal of a murder indictment.

Perkins could have been sentenced to life in prison if convicted of murder.
