NEW YORK, NY. - As General Motors prepares to begin showing off it's diesel fueled Chevrolet Cruze models in showrooms across the country this month, a company has unveiled a kit that will convert the standard gasoline powered Lordstown made car to operate on both gasoline and natural gas.

IMPCO Automotive, a subsidiary of Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. announced the development and availability of a bi-fuel compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel system for the model year 2014 Chevrolet Cruze 1.4L sedan.

According to a news release from IMPCO, the fuel systems are currently the only EPA Certified Bi-Fuel CNG systems for model year 2014 sedans in the U.S. market. The systems will be available for installation by the company's network beginning this month.

The IMPCO Automotive powered Chevrolet Cruze includes a trunk mounted tank providing over 200 miles of additional range while allowing for nearly 7 cubic feet of available storage space.

Mariano Costamagna, Fuel Systems' CEO, said, "The after-market kits eliminates 'range anxiety' by including an 8.4 Gasoline Gallon Equivalent tank as standard equipment."

According to the company's web site, Fuel Systems Solutions designs, manufactures and supplies proven, cost-effective alternative fuel components and systems for transportation and industrial applications. Its gaseous fuel technology for propane and natural gas generates savings, reduces emissions, and promotes energy independence.
