WAKEMAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A Canfield teen and 2012 Cardinal Mooney graduate was killed in a two-vehicle crash about an hour west of Cleveland the morning after Christmas.

The State Highway Patrol tells 21 News it happened at 12:30 Thursday morning. The Yager family was traveling eastbound on US Route 20 after visiting with their daughter Monica in Norwalk. An oncoming car lost control on the icy road, and struck the Yager's sedan head on.

Nineteen-year-old Caitlin Yager was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the crash. Her parents, 59-year-old Richard and 57-year-old Carol Yager, were wearing seatbelts, and were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, along with her brother, 23-year-old Matthew Yager. It's unknown if he had a seatbelt on at the time. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle did not suffer life threatening injuries.

Caitlin Yager was a sophomore at Marietta College, and a familiar face at Cardinal Mooney High School and in the community.

"Cailtin was a good athlete, involved in a great deal including the school's yearbook, environmental club and also very active at Saint Christine's Church," said Cardinal Mooney Principal John Young.

Young also told 21 News that Yager was a "wonderful young lady who always had a smile on her face."
