WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The driver of an ambulance that crashed in Ashtabula County on Thursday has been cited by the Ohio Highway Patrol with failure to control his vehicle.

The accident occurred shortly before 3:00 p.m. in the north bound lane of Route 11 just before the Jamestown exit.

The ambulance was en route from West Virginia to Andover when it drifted off the side of the highway. The ambulance nearly tipped on it's side, but landed back on it's wheels.

The driver, identified as 42-year-old Kasey McClure of Huntington, WV. tells state troopers that he had fallen asleep.

Another staff member and a patient were treated for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
