WARREN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a Trumbull County deputy.

Troopers report that 64-year-old Sheriff's Major Harold Firster received minor injuries when his pickup truck was struck by a tractor trailer on US Route 422 just after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday.

The patrol says that the semi ran into Firster's truck after it made a left turn into the crossover at Anderson Anthony Road in an effort to cut off a vehicle that authorities were pursuing from the city of Warren.

The report says Firster's truck pulled partially into the westbound lane just as the tractor trailer had moved into the left lane.

The driver of the semi wasn't hurt. Major Firster refused treatment at the scene.

The Highway Patrol report does not give a reason for the pursuit, or if the vehicle was eventually stopped.
