YOUNGTOWN, Ohio - Is former middleweight boxing champion Kelly Pavlik considering a comeback?

He told 21 Sports Director Dana Balash that he has "the itch to return."

Pavlik told 21 Sports, by phone, in the same breath that the “chances are slim" for a return.

Now 32-years-old and out of the sport for nearly two years, Pavlik says even if he gets into boxing shape, he's not certain any “commission would approve him for a fight."

Pavlik admits it’s a long shot and in his words "a lot of things need to happen for it to become a reality" including getting cleared by doctors for his seizures.

Pavlik stepped aside from the ring in January of 2013 with a 40-2 record. His last fight was in July of 2012.
