University media relations issued a statement late Monday saying, "Head football coach Brian Kelly has suspended junior wide receiver Will Mahone indefinitely from all football-related activities."

A judge in Mahoning County court set bond at $75,000 for the 20-year-old, who is charged with disorderly conduct, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, intimidation of a public servant and vandalism.

According to a report filed by township police, Mahone shouted racial slurs and obscenities at officers who were trying to arrest him on the 4500 block of Rita Avenue Saturday night.

Police initially received reports of a fight going on at the address. When they arrived, they say that Mahone was head butting and punching vehicles, as well as attempting to fight several individuals.  The report says that Mahone was highly intoxicated.

Police say that after having difficulty handcuffing Mahone, he continued fighting them, and was stunned two times by officers.  One officer says Mahone butted him in the head.

The report says that Mahone repeatedly threatened the lives of the officers, at one point saying, "Bro, when I get out, I got a Glock 9 for your a-s." Glock is a pistol manufacturer based in Austria.

The inmate intake photo taken when Mahone was booked, shows apparent swelling and a cut over one eye.

The court is allowing Mahone to return to classes at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana.

Michael Bertsch, Director of Football Media Relations for Notre Dame issued an earlier statement saying, "The University is aware of this incident and is confident that it will be handled in a prompt and professional manner through the criminal justice system. Internal discipline is handled privately, in accord with our own policies and federal law."

The 2012 Austintown graduate played both football and basketball for Fitch. He earned second-team 2011 Division I all-Ohio honors from Associated Press as linebacker, helping Fitch reach a 6-4 mark in 2011 after a 10-2 season in 2010, while playing as both running back and linebacker.

Mahone was captain of the football team as a senior in 2011, where he rushed 81 times as a senior for 700 yards and nine touchdowns, despite missing about half of senior season with ankle injury.

Mahone played basketball for Fitch as a standout three-point shooter, and was named co-MVP of the team following his senior season. He earned second-team all-Northeast Ohio honors after averaging 19 points per game and scoring the ninth-most points in a season at Fitch in 2011-12.

The wide receiver didn't see any action as a freshman in the 2012 Notre Dame season, but played in the Purdue and Michigan State games in 2012 as a sophomore.
