Suspect in Hubbard police chase has long criminal record

HUBBARD, Ohio - The man accused of firing shots at a pursuing Hubbard police officer is no stranger to authorities in his home state of Indiana.
Records from the Indiana Department of Correction show that 26-year-old Jeffrey Irby was released from a prison this past February.
Irby had been locked up since September 2009 when he was sentenced for a burglary in Fort Wayne.
In 2008, Irby was sentenced to a one and a half year prison term for cocaine possession and resisting arrest.
A few months before that, Irby was sentenced to thirty days in jail for filing a false report.
In 2006, when Irby was just 18-years-old, Irby was sentenced to 90 days in jail on charges of invasion of privacy and battery.
One month ago, a judge in Indiana issued a warrant for Irby's arrest after he failed to appear in court for a hearing on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Irby and 30-year-old Jason Duecaster of Youngstown are expected to appear in Girard Municipal Court today to answer charges of felonious assault and improper handling of a firearm.
Police say Irby bolted from Duecaster's car during a traffic stop on West Liberty Street Tuesday.
The officer says Irby fired several shots as he was being pursued. The officer was not struck by the gunfire.
A search involving other police departments and federal agents resulted in the arrest of Irby on Tylee Lane.
