Worshipers and the Franciscan Friars in Youngstown celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Worshipers and the Franciscan Friars in Youngstown celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted.

The celebration began with Mass and was followed by a dinner.

The shrine is a replica of one in Transylvania.

The Youngstown shrine was established by Hungarian Franciscans who fled their homeland shortly after World War II.
