HUBBARD, Ohio - A Hubbard woman is behind an effort to let Valley police officers know that they are supported by members of their communities.

Patti Pagano is mounting a local campaign to promote Blue Light Week, January 1 through January 7.

Pagano and Christina Moffitt, who have relatives in law enforcement, are urging people to install blue light bulbs outside their homes beginning Friday.

Pagano says that blue bulbs may be purchased at local hardware stores. However, she has purchased 200 bulbs with her own money to distribute them to those who can't find one, or afford to buy their own.

The bulbs will be distributed at the Hubbard City Municipal Building, 220 W. Liberty St., on Friday, January 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as long as supplies last. Donations will be accepted for the bulbs.

Patti says that the bulbs should be displayed in a spot that can been seen from the road during Blue Light Week. She hopes that the effort spreads beyond Hubbard into other communities.

In addition, the Pagano is encouraging people who attend the city council meeting on Monday, January 5 at 7 p.m. to wear a blue article of clothing to show support for local police.

Blue Light Week was started on Facebook by D.J. Jessup from Virginia, a former police officer and sheriff's deputy.
