RICHMOND DALE, Ohio (AP) - Searchers hoping to find a 20-year-old Ross County woman who's been missing for days are scouring the area of southern Ohio where a vehicle she'd been driving was found abandoned, with no gas and a dead battery.
The Chillicothe Gazette reports surveillance video showed Shasta Himelrick walking into a gas station early Friday morning in rural Richmond Dale, roughly 50 miles south of Columbus in Ross County. Later that morning, the abandoned vehicle was found near a bridge along the Scioto (sy-OH'-tuh) River.
Sheriff George Lavender says Himelrick was supposed to return home and meet her boyfriend but never did.
Searchers covered a 2-mile section of the riverbank on Monday. Lavender said more of the area would be checked, and the search of the river would continue.
