Anyone from Pittsburgh knows fries and slaw on your sandwich is a good thing- and now that good thing may be coming to Boardman.
According to a Boardman zoning inspector, Primanti Bros. is looking into putting a new restaurant in the old Hollywood Video building next to Wal-Mart.
It would be Primanti's first Ohio location- they already have two in Florida and two in West Virginia.
"We had some representatives at the site plan meeting. This chain was recently purchased by a national restaurant company that wants to take them wider than just the Pittsburgh, PA area," says Boardman zoning inspector Sarah Gartland.
Primanti Bros. already submitted a site plan to the township which was reviewed favorably by the site plan commission but with some concerns over parking.
"That site has enough parking for a retail location but not a restaurant so they are about 40 short but they have an agreement in place to share parking with the overall plaza that D.D.R. owns. D.D.R. owns that lot as well they would be leasing it," says Gartland.
So Primanti's will present a plan to handle parking to the board of zoning appeals to try to get a variance to allow customers to park in front of the Wal-Mart lot.
That meeting is set for February 17th at 7 p.m.
If that is approved the next step would be for Primanti's to secure building permits. The zoning inspector says it's all still early in the process.
