SUMMIT TWP., Pa. - There were no students from Hermitage Schools on board a bus that collided with a tanker truck in Butler County on Wednesday.

That's according to Hermitage Superintendent Dan Bell, when asked about the crash that occurred on Route 422 in Summit Township, which is about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Although lettering on the side identifies the bus as a Hermitage School district bus, Dr. Bell tells 21 News that the bus is owned and operated by Student Transportation of America, which the district contracts to convey students.

Dr. Bell says the four students on the bus during the crash are from schools in the Indiana, Pa. Area.

They were on their way to Hermitage for a regional orchestra festival that is getting underway the same evening. It's believed that none of the students were seriously injured.

The driver of the bus, who works out of the Hermitage hub of Student Transportation of America, was injured and taken by medical helicopter to the hospital for treatment. There is no information on the identity or condition of the driver.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.
