Firefighters from several communities were dispatched to a blaze at the Original Roadhouse restaurant in East Palestine early Monday.

A passerby spotted heavy smoke and flames coming from the building on State Route 14 just after 1:15 a.m.

First responders reported fire coming through the roof of the building. Just before 2 a.m., firefighters shut down Route 14 in the area of the business, which is located between Route 165 and Waterford Road.

Firefighters from Negley, Springfield, Beaver, Leetonia, Columbiana, and New Waterford departments were also called to assist East Palestine.  Chilly temperatures combined with water from the fire hoses to make Route 14 slick. Fire crews called in a maintenance truck to apply salt to the highway.

It is not known at this time if anyone has been injured.
