Prosecutor to seek new indictment in Youngstown murder case

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Authorities expect to take the case of a Youngstown man before a grand jury again after a judge dismissed murder charges against him.
Assistant Mahoning County Prosecutor Nick Brevetta tells 21 News that a murder case against 26-year-old Elijah Alexander was thrown out on Monday after his alleged co-conspirator recanted allegations he had made against Alexander in the case.
Alexander and Thomas Wright were charged in connection with the January 2009 shooting death of Rodney Weaver during a robbery in Youngstown.
28-year-old Wright is serving ten years in prison after he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and robbery in connection with the crime.
Brevetta expects to seek an indictment against Alexander for complicity.
