Body of man who fell over Pennsylvania waterfall recovered
OHIOPYLE, Pa. (AP) - The body of a man who fell into a western Pennsylvania river and over a waterfall while posing for a picture has been found about five miles downstream.
The Fayette County coroner's office on Friday confirmed the body found Thursday evening is that of 20-year-old Michael Davila Jr.
He had climbed over an observation deck railing at Ohiopyle State Park about 11:15 a.m. March 18, but slipped on ice. He fell into the Youghiogheny (yawk-ah-GEN'-nee) River and went over the 20-foot Ohiopyle Falls below.
The coroner ruled Davila's death a drowning.
Park Manager Ken Bisbee says a guide from Wilderness Voyagers was kayaking when he found the body about 5:10 p.m. Thursday.
The family was notified and asked to identify the body shortly thereafter.
