Gone are the days when a paper mache volcano was the norm at school science fairs. The projects are a lot more involved these days.
On Wednesday, 7th and 8th grade students from Austintown showed off their projects in a STEM showcase. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Projects included windmills, circuit boards, soap box derby cars and DNA extraction exhibits among others.
The basis of the program was a focus on hands on learning.
