Ericulo Laross Henderson, 60, was convicted on Tuesday of felonious assault and two counts of endangering.
In October 2014, the mother of an 11 year old child paid Henderson for tutoring services that happened outside a storefront on Oak Hill Road.
According to the Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor, Jennifer McLaughlin, Henderson would beat the victim with a wooden paddle every time they got an answer wrong.
In the December indictment against Henderson, a Grand Jury stated that as a person in a position of power, the corporal punishment was "cruel" and "excessive".
McLaughlin said the punishments inflicted severe injury upon the child.
Henderson is due to be sentenced by a Mahoning County judge on July, 24th.
