Warren man sentenced for taking Trumbull Jail guard hostage

WARREN, Ohio - A Warren man will spend even more time in prison for holding a Trumbull County Jail corrections officer hostage.
A judge in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court added another seven years to the 23 year prison term already being served by Richard Ware.
The 23-year-old pleaded guilty on Wednesday to charges of kidnapping, aggravated robbery, possessing a deadly weapon while under detention, felonious assault, and resistance to unlawful authority.
If Ware serves his entire sentence, he won't be released from prison until the year 2043.
Ware and two other inmates, Kevin Johns and David Martin, took a correctional officer hostage at knife point in a jail cell in April of last year.
Johns was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison for his role in the crime. That prison term will be added to the 28-years Johns is serving for a prior kidnapping conviction.
Johns plead to charges of felonious assault, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, possession of a deadly weapon while under detention and resistance to lawful authority.
The third suspect, David Martin was sentenced to death last September for the 2012 murder of Jeremy Cole.
