Boardman Police tell 21 News they expect to make an arrest of the burglar they believe was shot and injured by the store owner at Cirelli Jewelers late Tuesday night.   The detective working the case also believes the same suspect is responsible for the burglary at TeleGold earlier this month.

The suspect ended up at a Pennsylvania area hospital and is being treated for his injury.

So far his identity has not been released.

It was about 11:15pm on Tuesday when store owner Mark Cichanski, Sr. heard the burglar alarm go off at Cirelli Jewelers.  Cichanski and his wife live in a home that is attached to the jewelry business.

Cichanski told police he looked at surveillance video and could see a man moving around the business and grabbing items.  That's when the owner grabbed a handgun to protect himself and his wife.

At one point the owner came face to face with the suspect and he told police he fire seven to eight rounds from his handgun.  Cichanski believes he struck the burglary suspect at least once in the right shoulder.  He says it was at that point that the suspect dropped a black book bag that contained about $100,000 in jewelry from the store.

The suspect fled on foot leaving a blood trail of evidence behind.  At one point the blood trail stops and it's suspected the intruder was picked up in a car or somehow drove away from the scene of the burglary.
