LISBON, Ohio - A member of an elite group, who is widely considered an American hero, made a stop in Columbiana County.

Rob O'Neill is a member of SEAL Team 6, and believed to be the man who fired the shots that killed Osama bin Laden back in May of 2011.

O'Neill says, "It's great to be here in Lisbon.  I just came here to raise awareness for a lot of the veterans who are transitioning from the military to the private sector.  To support my dear friends the Newbolds who are legends in the SEAL teams, and I just want to show my support and some good that we can."

Approximately 400 people gathered at the Guilford Lake Grille to hear O'Neill speak.

No one was allowed to record O'Neill's speech or interview him about that raid in May of 2011 because he's under contract.

But Adam Newbold, a fellow Navy SEAL and the owner of Advanced Training Group Worldwide out of Lisbon says he's a true hero who record speaks for itself.

"Rob's a hero over and over and over again.  He's highly decorated.  He has been involved in some very high profile missions -- taking nothing away from other SEALS.  Rob had the privilege of not only excelling mission after mission after mission but also being the man to be in the right place at the right time to be able to claim to be the one that took out this country's most wanted man in the history of this nation," Newbold said.
