Fire caused by grill explosion destroys Ohio home

WEST ALEXANDRIA, Ohio (AP) - A western Ohio man says he was making hamburgers for a backyard cookout when the grill caught fire and exploded in flames that eventually destroyed his home.
The explosion happened Sunday afternoon at a house in Preble County. West Alexandria fire chief Jeff Schafer says it appears grease dripped onto a leaky propane tank and started the fire.
The griller, Walter Landerer, says he initially ran inside for a fire extinguisher, but when he realized the tank hose had burst, he told everyone to run. There were no reports of serious injuries.
Firefighters from four areas responded to the blaze as they dealt with quick-moving flames and the hot weather. The chief says two firefighters were treated for possible heat exhaustion.
