WARREN, Ohio - It's been a staple for those looking for a good meal or quick dessert for over 23 years now.

In 1991, business partners Nick Liakaris and Bill Axiotis got the idea to bring a coffee house to downtown Warren.  At the time there was nothing like the Mocha House in the area.

"After looking at the job market it wasn't very promising so we wanted to do something for ourselves and that was our inspiration," says Liakaris.

The building used to be an old American Legion Post.

"His dad had the building. We renovated it. We came up with the idea and it went real well. We saw it in bigger cities and we thought it was a good opportunity to bring it to Warren, Ohio," says Axiotis.

Their recipes came from family members who had years of restaurant experience.

"We have a lot of family in the business, especially in New York. We have uncles and cousins involved in diners, they have their own recipes and things they've done over the years," says Liakaris.

If the Mocha House is known for anything it's their selection of desserts. They are very popular. So much so, in fact, they are starting to make them available online to anyone nationwide.

"Our New York style pastry is made here. We have a bakery baking 7 days a week. It's what we're known for because it's the first thing you see when you walk through the door," says Axiotis.

The Mocha House has expanded over the years with different locations and now a new outdoor patio in Warren.  They hope to be able to pass the business down to their children someday to keep it in the family and keep it in Warren.

"We've been doing it for 23 years and we look forward to keep on going and taking care of the customers that come into the Mocha House," says Axiotis.
