NORTH BLOOMFIELD, Ohio - The Trumbull County toddler who disappeared for two days without a trace, only to be found by a search volunteer, is home from the hospital.

Rainn Peterson is back in the loving care of her great grandparents who have temporary custody of the 2-year-old and her two brothers.

"We're just very thankful that Vic Sutton was out there, still searching and that the Lord lead him to where she was," Richard Peterson said, Rainn's great grandfather.

The Petersons are more than relieved to have their great grand daughter back in their care.

They say Rainn is healthy and her personality is back to normal. She's described as a confident, brave little girl.

"If she was out there all that time, then that's what saved her, she's a fighter," Dora Mae Peterson said, Rainn's great grandmother.

Dore Mae Peterson says she just finished doing laundry and was on her way to bring Rainn upstairs when she noticed she was gone. She says Rainn has always been afraid of the dark, which made her frieghtened for the toddler as the hours went by and she was nowhere to be found.

"When it got dark, I knew if she was out there someplace, she was scared and that just tore me to know my little girl was scared out there," she said.

Both were never on the radar of investigators, who are now combing through evidence.
They too have questions about how Rainn managed to escape, why she didn't have more than a wet diaper and how she survived the cold.

"She has never done anything like that before, she would go outdoors with her brothers outdoors, but she's never gone out by herself," she said. "It was chilly that day, I fully believe she would have turned around and come back in."

The Petersons say they can't thank the volunteers who helped in her search enough.

As for the investigation, the Sheriff Thomas Altiere says he's waiting for DNA tests from Rainn's clothing.
