Cheddar's restaurant closes in Boardman

BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - After little more than three years in operation, a Boardman restaurant has closed its doors.
Customers visiting the Cheddar's at the Southern Park Mall on Monday morning found a sign on the front door reading, “Cheddar's doors are closing, but we appreciate your support your support through the years.”
The operators of the 160 restaurant chain issued a statement saying the decision to close the Boardman location was “strategic” in nature, according to Chris Enright, Regional Vice President of Operations at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen.
Enright did not say how many people were employed at the Boardman restaurant.
The business first opened its doors in October 2012.
Simon Properties, which operates the Southern Park Mall, has not responded to a 21 News request for information about future plans for the restaurant building.
TGI Friday's, a chain also known for casual dining, closed its Boardman location in May.
