Mistrial declared in Youngstown murder case
A judge has declared a mistrial in the case of a Youngstown man accused of fatally shooting a neighbor during a dispute over stolen electricity.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A judge has declared a mistrial in the case of a Youngstown man accused of fatally shooting a neighbor during a dispute over stolen electricity.
Jury selection got underway Monday in the trial of 22-year-old Michael Paige on charges of murder, voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.
Paige is accused of fatally shooting 31-year-old Munir Blake, after Blake accused Paige and his cousin, Jasmin Fletcher, of stealing electricity from Blake's Lora Avenue duplex in 2012.
Fletcher awaits sentencing on a conviction of tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice.
Paige was found not guilty of a more serious charge of aggravated murder during an earlier trial, but the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict on the remaining charges.
During court proceedings it was discovered that Paige had filed a lawsuit in federal court protesting his incarceration since his arrest nearly four years ago.
When the court learned about the civil suit, the judge said the current proceedings could not continue and declared a mistrial.
Paige has been in the Mahoning County Jail since March 2012.
