If something happened to you, would your child know what to do if no one else was around to help?

Its an important question parents have to ask. A Trumbull County mother is confident in her answer, thanks to some quick thinking from her 5 year old daughter.

Laralie Willingham called 911 Tuesday morning after her mom, Angel, cut her hand open with a knife.
"So sad when mommy cut herself and just call 911 fast," said Laralie.

Angel says she was cutting open a box in the kitchen Tuesday morning when the knife slipped, and sliced open a hole between her thumb and index finger.

"I hit a vein, so the blood just kind of poured and I was just standing there and watching the blood go everywhere and sat on the floor," said Angel.

And the next thing Angel knew, Laralie grabbed her mom's cell phone and called 911.

It was exactly what Angel had taught her to do if there was an emergency.

"Faced with the situation, I know as an adult we freak out, so for her not to freak out, it made me feel really good," she said.

The incident serves as a reminder to all parents about the importance of teaching kids how to respond to an emergency.

"Teach your child how to use your cell phone, call 911 and teach them your address," says Angel.

"Anything can happen to a parent you know, if their children don't know what to do, your leaving your children at risk."

Angel says she practices and works with her kids on dialing 911, whether its for a burglar, fire or a bad injury. They even go over exactly what to say.

Loralie says she hopes to get some skittles for her good deed. Angel says that won't be a problem.
