Stolen credit card suspects leave trail of evidence in Niles
Niles police say charges are pending against four suspects who left a trail of stolen credit cards as they tried to make their getaway.

NILES, Ohio - Niles police say charges are pending against four suspects from New York who left a trail of stolen credit cards as they tried to make their getaway.
Officers say they received a call from store personnel at Best Buy shortly before noon Tuesday that several people inside the store were trying to use stolen credit cards.
When a police lieutenant arrived, a van containing the suspects was leaving the parking lot.
As the officer pursued the van along Route 422, he could see credit cards being thrown out of the window.
Police later counted more than 40 stolen credit cards along the road.
The van finally stopped near the Burger King.
According to the Niles Police Facebook page, the officers faced another challenge.
In order to safely place the four suspects under arrest, three remaining uniformed officers on duty had to be called to the scene.
Police say they were unable to respond to a home alarm that came in at the same time because a fourth officer, who would have normally been on duty during the day, was not available due to recent austerity cuts in the city.
An officer from a neighboring community had to be called in to answer the house alarm.
The Facebook posting asks citizens to remember the department's manpower situation when they vote next week on a half percent city income tax increase.
Investigators say the suspects were found with $4,000 worth of items purchased with the stolen cards, including iPads, and XBox and Playstation Four.
Police say the names of the suspects will be released when charges are filed.
