BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - The operator of the newly relocated Chick-fil-A in Boardman says the restaurant is bigger and will employ more people.

According to a news release, local franchise owner Gail McCullough will open the Tiffany Square stand-alone Chick-fil-A restaurant on March 31, five days after closing the restaurant across the street, adding capacity and jobs in the transition the newly built restaurant.

After nearly two decades at its current location, the Boardman Chick-fil-A will close Saturday and open next Thursday across the street at 1110 Boardman Poland Road.

The move to the new 5,000 square-foot restaurant will mean more efficient service for customers, according to Chick-fil-A.

Previously, it was not uncommon to see a drive-thru line circling the Boardman restaurant twice during busy hours.

The new Tiffany Square location will offer dual drive-thru ordering lanes and screens to enable customers to quickly move into a single lane for payment and pick up.

The kitchen space has also been increased to enable workers to handle a bigger volume of orders at any given time.

In addition to the current employees who will make the move, 20 additional workers have been hired to staff the larger location.

The new restaurant will open at 6:30 a.m. on March 31.

Boardman and Poland Village officials will take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. The event will include an official “First Bite” of a Chick-fil-A sandwich.

Gail McCullough came to the Boardman area in 1980 to operate the Southern Park Mall Chick-fil-A, .

The Boardman Chick-fil-A has been ranked in the top 5 percent of the chain, according to the release.

The new Tiffany Square restaurant is designed using hand-made materials for a vintage-inspired interior, including a large gathering table made from reclaimed wood, subway tiles, and light fixtures made from recycled Coca-Cola bottles and peach baskets.

There is also a two-story interactive indoor play area for children, free Wi-Fi, and a dining room with seating for 115 and additional outdoor patio seating.

The building was designed with elements to improve water conservation and energy efficiency and recycling of cooking oil.

The restaurant will serve breakfast until 10:30 a.m. and will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and, like all Chick-fil-A locations, will be closed on Sunday.
