They made it official Tuesday. Daily flight service is on its way to the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.
The daily flights from Youngstown-Warren will go to Chicago O'Hare airport and from there you can connect to over 130 worldwide destinations.
It's a move that could save you money on travel and bring more business to the Valley.
Darrell Richardson, CEO and President of ADI, said, "You've got to depend on people buying tickets and what we found here was a community that really wanted air service and people who are prepared to step up and really support it."
Mickey Bowman, VP of Airline Services at ADI, said, "We'll have two round trips a day, morning and evenings on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and there will be a single round trip the other days of the week to Chicago."
Ticket prices will be about the same as flying out of Pittsburgh or Cleveland but in the long run it could be cheaper to fly out of Vienna.
Dan Dickten, Director of Aviation at Youngstown, said, "You won't have the cost of burning gas on the road to drive to those airports and you won't have the high cost of parking over there. We charge $6-$7 a day where the other airports charge $12-$14 so you'll save some money there as well."
And getting through security at Youngstown will likely be quicker and easier.
ADI's planes will have 50 seats inside the Embraer ERJ-145 regional jets and they have flight attendant service just like any other plane you'd fly on.
In addition to helping the local traveler the new air service could also be vital to the economic development of the Valley said Chairman of the WRPA, Ron Klingle.
"If you can't get to Youngstown, Ohio you can't do business here. If you have a business here and you can't get anywhere else it makes it that much more difficult. Having an opportunity to get daily flights to Chicago is one of the most important things that's happened to our community over the last 20 years," said Klingle.
You'll be able to start booking flights on sites like Travelocity or Expedia or through the local site by mid April. The first flight to Chicago will actually take off on June 1st.
