YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The top officer of a local organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering area youth has been placed on leave after being arrested on drug charges.

35-year-old Timothy Frost is free on bond after his arraignment on charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs and fleeing and eluding police.

Frost, who is the Executive Director of Inspiring Minds Youngstown, has been placed on indefinite leave without pay, according to the organization's CEO Deryck Toles.

According to an YPD report, officers responding to reports of gunfire, pursued Frost's Cadillac Escalade early Sunday from East Evergreen Avenue, to Market Street to East Indianola Avenue where the car finally stopped.

Police say that once out of the car, Frost disobeyed their orders to keep his hands in plain sight.

Frost reportedly said, “What are you going to do? Shoot me? Well then go ahead and shoot me!”

“How you gonna kill me knowing who I am?” said Frost according to police.

When Frost pulled something out of his pocket, an officer shot him with a taser.

Frost fell to the ground and was handcuffed.

The object Frost pulled from his pocket was later found to be a wallet.

A search of Frost's Cadillac turned up $310, a grinder, a digital scale, and sixteen baggies of marijuana.

“I'm shocked and saddened by this, but the important thing is that we're showing our children that we have a zero tolerance for drugs,” said Toles in a statement released on Tuesday.

Toles says that Frost has no prior history of issues with the Inspiring Minds drug and background check policy.

The next hearing for Frost is scheduled for April 12 in Youngstown Municipal Court.

Frost's duties are being performed by Interim Executive Director Lindsay Benton.

According to the organization's website, the mission of Inspiring Minds is to engage, inspire and empower youth to reach their full potential through education and exposure to life-changing experiences.
