SANDUSKY, Ohio - Roller coaster lovers from around the world were in Ohio Wednesday as Cedar Point unveiled its 18th roller coaster at media day.

It's named after a supernatural bird from danish folklore. Valravn is a dive coaster. And when you see it you will understand why it's called that.

Kristy Bacni, Cedar Point's Communication Manager, says, "Most roller coasters go up and over a hill but Valravn will hold you at the top for a 90 degree drop for 4 seconds and then once it unleashes you'll go straight down and reach speeds of 75 mph."

When you go up 223 feet, you get to see all of the coasters in the park, then you'll turn and see, well maybe to Canada over Lake Erie.  But then you stop a split second before you dive down. It's a long four seconds to contemplate what comes next, a 214 foot drop, the longest drop on a dive coaster in the world.

After the big drop you'll experience three inversions, a second dive hill and then a hill at the end to give you some nice air time.

Cedar Point started planning Valravn three years ago.  They wanted to make sure their newest coaster was like no other.  And with this coaster Cedar Point now has nearly 11.5 miles of roller coaster track in the park, the most in the world.

Cedar Point General Manager and V.P., Jason McClure, says, "There's no where else you can get the diverse roller coasters that we have. We are the roller coaster capital of the world for a reason, the first 200, 300 and 400 feet, and when we build a new one like this dive coaster we have to Cedar Point size it. The tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster in the world."

There are two other dive coasters in America, one in Williamsburg, VA and one in Tampa, FL. So which one do the pros prefer?

Adam Grignon of Detroit, says, "This is definitely the best, definitely the best. It has elements that the others don't have. The 270 degree roll. It's a slow roll. You float there and you drop."

Cedar Point officially opens to the public for the new summer season on May 7th.
