Clothing retail chain Aeropostale is closing three area stores as part of a plan to eventually emerge from bankruptcy.
Aeropostale began Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings on Wednesday, announcing it will close 113 U.S. Stores and all 41 stores in Canada in an effort to “right-size” their business.
Included in those closings are stores in the Eastwood Mall in Niles, the Southern Park Mall in Boardman, and the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville.
The Aeropostale Factory Store at the Grove City Premium Oulets is not effected by the closings.
The company says it expects to complete a performance review of the remaining stores in 120 days.
Store closing sales are scheduled to begin this weekend in the U.S.
Aeropostale says intends to emerge from the Chapter 11 process within the next six months as a standalone enterprise with a smaller number of stores and increased operating efficiencies.
