WARREN, Ohio - Tensions continue to rage on between the Trumbull County Engineers office and the union that represents some of its workers.

With at least seven unfair labor practice complaints filed and counting, the Ohio Civil Services Employee Association continues to make noise about the concerns of its members.

The union alleges unfair labor practices by County Engineer Randy Smith.

"In the end, we just want transparency, we want fair treatment, we want any political corruptness to end," Doug Sollitto said, OCSEA staff rep.

The union alleges the Ohio Ethics Commission is investigating the business practices of Smith. When 21 News asked for proof, the union provided an email correspondence with an ethics commission speical investigator.

21 News reached out to the ethics commission to verify the claims, but by law the commission can not confirm or deny that any such investigation would bwe taking place.

In April of 2014 the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation raided Smiths office at the request of the commission.

They confiscated computers, county issued cell phones and other records.

Smith tells 21 News he finds it ironic that the union is sharing concerns with the county so close to the time contract talks are set to get underway.

In response to claims made against him, Smith says he hasn't seen anything of substance so far.
