Police received a call of an unresponsive male slumped over the steering wheel of a car in a parking lot near West Midlothian Boulevard and Hillman Street.
Officers say the man got scared when they woke him up and he hit the gas pedal, driving across Hillman Street and crashed into a Burger King.
The driver rammed into a cruiser while trying to escape from police.
An officer smashed through a window of the car and put the placed the driver in custody after he failed to follow an order to exit the vehicle.
During a search of the car, police on scene found a syringe filled with an unidentified substance.
Officials say the driver will be facing several charges, but did not say what those charges will be at this time.
Police say the officer that broke the window was treated for a laceration in his arm and no one was injured inside the restaurant.
